It all began in 1981 in Paris, Annick Goutal's hometown. She founded her Perfume House and set up her first boutique at 16, rue de Bellechasse, in the 7th arrondissement. Formerly a bookstore, this small setting with an intimate and refined atmosphere was frequented by artists and insiders and quickly seduced this audience of connoisseurs.
It is perhaps no coincidence that books will inspire some of the House's fragrances, like Eau d'Hadrien, born from readings of "Mémoires d'Hadrien">, by Marguerite Yourcenar in Italy.
The boutique at 16, rue de Bellechasse is a stone's throw from the Bonpoint store, created by Annick's sister, Marie-France. Annick Goutal would later create the Bonpoint perfume for her.
